Boeing 777 taking off – View from the Jump Seat

Dear Captain Lim,

I am a big aviation fan, just read your book and I like the story very much.

I just want to ask, is there any possibility that I can visit the flight deck during a flight?

I don't mind if it’s after flight, best if I can sit at the jump seat during take-off and landing.

MPL Training by Finnair Flight Academy

Good Day Capt Lim,

I am a keen and ambitious guy whose long life dream is to fly with an airline for a living. I'm a Singaporean who had just completed my military service and now looking for an aviation course to pursue my dream.

Today I went for a selection test for MPL with Qatar Airways as well as for the CPL. Sad to say I didn't quite made if for MPL and I have the options to agree and take on the CPL.

There are a couple of questions that is running through my head after the selection. Here goes:-

1. What is bothering me now is that what are the benefits of these two licenses?

2. Are there any academy that offers MPL course? (I applied for ST Aerospace Academy and CAE Oxford Aviation Academy does not have any MPL course open at the moment)

3. If I were to complete my CPL course what kind of airline can I fly with?

4. Will I be dealing with a huge open window of not being able to find an airline after completion of my CPL?

I'm really worried that my dream was to die right here. I want to pursue and live this lifelong dream- to be a pilot.

Please help me here!

Thank You,

Worried Guy

SIA cadet pilots from Jandakot Flying School
Hi Capt. Lim,

I know you through your book "Life in the Skies". This book is fascinating and interesting and makes me want to know more about aviation.

I'm 16 and I wanted to be a commercial pilot since I was 4 years old.

I'm a Malaysian from Sabah. I want to know whether I should go to college to get a DEGREE first before I start my flying training at JANDAKOT FLYING SCHOOL, PERTH.

Apart from that, how can I have a job if I wish to work with Singapore Airlines because I heard that SIA sends their pilots there for training?

Last but not least, what benefits will my family gets if I am a pilot?

Thank you.

I am not that tall but want to be a pilot!

Pilot Requirement – British Airways

Hi Captain,

I hope you are as fit as a fiddle. The main purpose I am writing is to ask you a few questions.

They may sound silly and childish but I am just 15 years old and I am curious about flying. I have bought your book "Life in the Skies". I have no regret and I love your story.

First of all, on pilot's physical appearance - why do pilots have to be tall? I heard that the minimum height be a pilot is 163 cm? I always wanted to be a pilot - unfortunately I am not that tall!

Secondly, if my academic result is not so good and couldn't make to it to the science stream, should I just give up on becoming a pilot?

Thirdly, I don't know if this has been written in your book. This happened about 2 or 3 years ago, I flew to Sabah. It was not my first flight but about 15 minutes before landing, I felt pain in my ear.

Next, can you explain the cost to be a pilot? I heard about this a lot and almost everyone said the same, "The cost to be a pilot is high" Is it true?

Your book is worth buying. I love your writing. I hope you could write some more in the future.

There will be a lot of questions but for now I will end here.

Till then, bye!

Is there a pilot on board?

Hero passenger steps in for ailing pilot

Hi Good Day to you Capt Lim,

I always have this question in mind and I tried to google the answer but I couldn't manage to find it.

I was just wondering, if there is a passenger holding a pilot license such as PPL or even a CPL license, and that passenger boarded a flight to go for a vacation.

Will the airline/immigration knows whether, in that particular flight, there is a pilot on board?

Thank You.
