How to unfreeze an ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence)?

The Great Airline Pilot Shortage Myth (Part I)

Hello Captain,

After getting a frozen ATPL, where can a pilot accumulate 1500 flying hours and how long will it take approximately to unfreeze the licence?

Which Flying Academy would you recommend?

Malaysian Flying Academy - Our Women Of The Skies
Hi Captain Lim,

I am a Malaysian female and I really want to get into those major airlines and work as a pilot. However, I understand there is a long and tough way to go. I am going to graduate with my Science Degree in 2015.

I am thinking of getting a CPL with my own money because there is no cadet program available for Malaysians. I have limited funds for the entire course which is around USD100k?

I am just wondering which one is the best flight school on your mind.

a. Integrated ATPL program with CAE Oxford Aviation Academy in Phoenix, USA.
b. Aerocadet full ATPL program with Aviator College in Florida, USA
c. CPL(certificate IV in aviation) Basair Aviation College in NSW, Australia

Or any other alternative options you would recommend to me?

Your advice is greatly appreciated! Hope to hear back from you soon.

Thank you Captain Lim!

Would it be possible to push a big plane backwards by use of the reversers?

DC9 Push Back with Reversers

Hi Capt Lim

Would it be possible to push a big plane (like a Boeing 737 or Airbus A330) backwards with reversers? (On ground of course!) irrespective of whether reverse thrust is allowed or not.

This is especially in case that all the tow truck drivers are sleeping  or at a place after an emergency landing where no pushback trucks are available.

I would be glad for an answer.

France VS Germany: Results 0-1 - Highlights FIFA World Cup 2014

Hi Captain,

I just watched the soccer game between Germany vs France at the World Championship 2014. A friend of mine is just on the flight at this time.

My question is, will all planes in the air be informed by ATC in time about the score or you need to listen to the radio in flight?

Thank you.

Cheers from Germany!
