Pilot Career - Becoming a Pilot
Wednesday, 16 June 2010 12:38

Hi Capt Lim,

I'm a 28 year old Singaporean male. Firstly, thank you for this website. It has been a blessing to a lot of aspiring aviators all over the world, and I'm sure I speak for many. What you have accomplished here is as good as a "Dummy's guide to being an Aviator".

Currently, I'm working as a flight steward with a local airline (the next closest thing) and I'm still trying to land myself a cadet pilot position. I've applied many times in the past and even went for interviews. As an ex-military controller and a student in an aerospace program, I really hope my efforts will eventually bring me somewhere.

Over the years, I've taken a few flights on small GAs. Love being in the air, but I've heart-wrenchingly resisted taking up a PPL/CPL simply because of finances and invested on schooling instead. I believe a strong theoretical background will serve me better.

Over the weekend, I will be going once more for the interview of my life. If not for a job, I just want them to know how much I want it.

Already feeling pre-interview jitters and my mind is flooded with potential interview questions. Just hope I can keep my cool. As always, what do you think one should prepare for the interview?

Any words of advice? At this stage, I will take anything.

Sincerly,

Keagan

Hi Keagan,

I think you appear very determine to achieve your goal of becoming an airline pilot. I hope you find what I have written in the past and also the experiences of other successful pilots in this site useful. There is no need for me to repeat them.

Suffice to say, be yourself in the interview and be as relaxed as possible (not easy when it is such an important one!).

Since you have attended the interviews before, you should be better prepared now. I like your spirit. Give your best! Failure in the past only motivates you more!

I wish you all the success! alt

For a start, you can watch the short inspirational video below to soften your pre interview jitters…

Hey Keagan, so how did the interview go? I felt rather enlightened and touched by your dedication to your dream. In any way your interview went, you did the best you could, so Kudos to U!!!
