Jetstar launches Cadet Pilot Training Program with CTC
To all Prospective Cadet Pilots,
From a query in my Twitter, a prospective cadet pilot wishes to know about the Jetstar Cadet Pilot Program. Below are some details of its launch in June 2010.
According to the Jetstar Group, it launched the new and exciting career pathway for prospective Cadet Pilots to become a First Officer flying on its modern Airbus A320 fleet of aircraft.
There are two programs
a. Ab-Initio Program
b. Advanced Cadet Program
From the details, it appears that the Programs are restricted to Australian and New Zealand Citizens. However, it is not clear if the Ab-Initio Program is open to all. You can find more details here.
It is also not clear if the program has lapsed. Nevertheless, to learn more about this amazing new opportunity, please see the summary below.

Program
Ab Initio Program
(for candidates with little or no flying experience) Commercial Licence + MECIR + ATPL subjects + ACP below
Advanced Cadet Program (ACP, for pilots with a CPL,MECIR and ATPL subjects)
Includes Multi Crew Training + Jet Conversion Training + A320 endorsement + Jetstar In-Flight Line Training
Oxford Aviation
Length of Program : Eighteen (18) months
Flying School Location : Moorabbin Airport, Victoria
Course Cost : $87,105 AUD plus GST plus ACP cost below
Accommodation & Meals : optional - $19,500 AUD plus GST
Funding Available : For Australia citizens through Fee Help*
Eligibility : This program is available to pilots who hold an Australian Commercial Pilots Licence, Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating and have completed ATPL subjects
Length of Program : Three (3) months
Endorsement Location : Hong Kong
Total ACP Course Cost (includes Jetstar In-Flight Training costs) : $86,000 AUD (All meals and accommodation provided for duration of training in Hong Kong )
How does the Jetstar Cadet Pilot Program work with regard to financial assistance :
Jetstar will provide you with sponsorship (AUD 21K) towards the training costs of the ACP, provided you stay with Jetstar for 6 years. In addition to this Jetstar will fund (up front) the remaining costs of the ACP program - this will be repaid to Jetstar by cadets over a period of 6 years whilst you are employed as a pilot operating for Jetstar.
Should you leave for any reason, you will need to immediately repay all outstanding amounts.
Following the completion of the ACP program, if you are offered employment to operate within the Jetstar group you may also be required to enter into a bond or other financial arrangement, depending on the jurisdiction in which you are employed. The amount represents the reasonable investment the Jetstar group will make in your development over the first 6 years as a pilot. Should you leave within 6 years of employment, you will be required to make payment in accordance with the bond or other applicable arrangement
CTC
Length of Program : Sixty-Five (65) weeks
Flying School Location : Hamilton Airport, New Zealand
Course Cost : $88,500 AUD plus GST plus ACP cost below
Accommodation & Meals : optional $21,000 AUD plus GST - includes transport in NZ
Funding Available : Available for New Zealand Citizens only
Eligibility : This program is available to pilots who hold an Australian Commercial Pilots Licence, Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating and have completed ATPL subjects
Length of Program : Ten (10) weeks
Endorsement Location : Nursling, UK
Total ACP Course Cost (includes Jetstar In-Flight Training costs) : $83,950 AUD (All meals and accommodation provided for duration of training in Nursling, UK)
