I just want to say thank you for your awesome webpage. I'm a nervous flier even though I fly a lot. It doesn't make sense in my head, yet when I step on the plane, the nerves start. I wasn't always this way either, I think it came from getting older and actually watching the news haha!
I try to do one long haul a year and just got back from Australia last month (the QANTAS A380 is gorgeous). That was fine, but then I did a one hour flight last week to visit my mom in Manchester and the descent was.....special. It was like being a ping pong ball that got bounced down some stairs, complete with a small drop. It was only a half second drop, probably only a few feet but to me it felt like thousands, haha!
Anyway I rambled. I head back to Ireland on Saturday and I was getting wound up in advance. Your page helped a lot, and I feel like I can get back to that place in my mind where flying was a joy and a marvel instead of bursting into tears at the light CAT (clear air turbulence)
Thanks again
Kate
Hi Kate,
Haha! You can laugh at yourself being tossed about like a ping pong ball in turbulence! That's a good sign because you understood that turbulence is not to be feared. In fact, it is only an annoyance as long as your seat belts are securely fastened.
It is just like sailing on a rough sea. You have no control over the discomfort but have to, nevertheless, sail along with the waves in order to reach your destination!
Enjoy your roller coaster rides!

Thanks Captain! I survived my flight back to Ireland, obviously, and it was nowhere near as bumpy thankfuily. It bumped a bit on the way down but I suspect that's just a propellor plane thing
This time I managed to look out the window from when we reached cruising altitutde to when we landed. Looking out during takeoff is my next "big step". Thanks again for the page though, it helped amazingly ♥
