Hi Capt Lim,

As a passenger of an airplane, I have some questions regarding the take-off and landing procedures.

Why, when the aircraft is about to take off and during the landing, the cabin lights are being dimmed and the window shades up?

Is there any reason for that?

Thank you,

Ricky

Hi Ricky,

I have answered that question many times before. You can read it again as the first FAQ out of 10 in the November issue of the Travel 3Sixty magazine here.

Additionally, the window shades are up so that, in the unlikely event of an accident, passengers can look outside better during an emergency evacuation by slides.
